“We live in a small harbour village in Cornwall with very difficult access issues. The closest a vehicle can get to our house is about 350 metres, no oil access or gas. Cavity wall insulation companies and Loft insulation companies had all refused to quote on arrival at our home due to access issues. Two heat pump suppliers had also refused to quote. So we held out no hope when Dan from Source Energy arrived to quote. He spent around two hours closely examining the house and area and carefully assessed data for the heat loss calculations and smiling announced that he would get back to us soon.
Three days later I was presented with a very reasonable quote and one phone call later I was reassured that the job would be done professionally. A site meeting with engineers and fitters prior to fitting confirmed access methods and a date was set.
A whole team attended on the first two days with electric step climbing gear to move the 150kg heat pump and water tank on site then Richard attended and work commenced. He was quick efficient and professional. He changed the pipe runs and managed to hide all the pipes avoiding all surface runs for no extra charge. We have solid oak floors in the house and no damage was done at all in fitting the radiators, amazing.
Our house was previously heated by night storage radiators. They were expensive inefficient and never ever made the house warm and being built on rock we had downstairs damp and condensation issues. Costs of around £2000 for the first year forced us to use the log burner instead but the novelty of carrying one tonne of logs from the harbour 200 metres down the Warren then up the side of the harbour cliff every two months soon wore off.
Since commissioning the house has changed completely. It is always warm and comfortable and temperature is accurately controlled. The constant condensation and associated damp issues are a thing of the past and we have oodles of hot water. Best of all, it is cheap. Our house is run entirely on electricity and projected figures for this year are an achievable £1200. Considering this winters storms and hurricane strength winds I found this so difficult to believe I had to do the sums twice.
Would we do this again? In a heartbeat, why on earth didn’t we do this sooner. We can highly recommend the Mitsubishi Heat pump and Source Energy team, thank you so much.”
