Although mains gas could have been made available to the site, our clients were looking to be energy efficient so their architect recommended heat pumps. There was no room for trenches, so boreholes were drilled for a ground source heat pump.

“Why on earth didn’t we install an air source heat pump sooner?” – Air source heat pump review – Polperro, Cornwall
Source Energy designed and installed an air source heat pump for a property in Polperro, Cornwall. This was a very challenging project with limited access so specialist lifting equipment was sourced to ensure safe placement of the Mitsubishi Ecodan 14 kW air source heat pump.
“Since commissioning the house has changed completely. It is always warm and comfortable and temperature is accurately controlled. Constant condensation and associated damp issues are a thing of the past and we have oodles of hot water. Best of all, it is cheap. Our house is run entirely on electricity and projected figures for this year are an achievable £1200. Considering the harsh winter, I found this so difficult to believe I had to do the sums twice.”
Our engineers replaced an existing direct electric heating system with new radiators which were appropriately sized for the low flow temperatures of the Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump. This maximised system efficiency, reducing both running costs and carbon emissions.
