Source Energy were approached by Character Builders a well-respected family business specialising in the renovation of period properties. They were working on a historic farm building in Drewsteignton, Devon.
Their client had already had boreholes drilled to access ground water onsite, and therefore was keen to use these boreholes in an open source heat pump system.
Source Energy designed and installed a Soleco open source heat pump solution to provide the property with both hot water and heating.
The internal equipment was installed in the former piggery, away from the living area to form a tidy installation.
Underfloor heating was chosen on the ground and first floor as a discrete method of distributing heat throughout the entire property and provide luxurious warmth.
The beautiful property has been shortlisted for both the 2014 South West LABC Building Excellence Awards and has won an award in the Best Extension category of the 2014 DBCp Building Excellence Awards.
