Air source solution for kennels:
“If Source Energy hadn’t helped, my project could have been an absolute disaster!”
Source Energy installed a Mitsubishi Cascade heat pump system for Tom Mucklow, consisting of two 14kw units with MELCloud remote monitoring.
Connected to existing underfloor heating by our Scotland engineers, the heat pump was installed to provide heating and hot water for Tom’s dog and cat boarding facilities – Valley Kennels & Cattery in Milngavie near Glasgow. The heat pump now provides hot water for the animal showers and basins, as well as for the underfloor heated areas of the kennels.
“I can’t fault the service or Stuart, the senior engineer. He was absolutely brilliant!” Tom’s dream of building kennel facilities with the highest heating specification possible took a long time to become a reality, after a 5 year wait for planning permission.
Considering the inevitable stress that comes with managing a new build project, Tom described working with Source Energy as “easy, with everything explained perfectly.”
“Source Energy are tremendous and everyone has fantastic communication skills. They delivered exactly what was promised.”
Tom informed us that another company had quoted an extremely expensive system using three outdoor units – a suggestion described as “totally over the top and unnecessary” by Scotland heat pump expert James Moffitt.
“James and Andy carefully determined the right solution for me. The heat pump is quiet, clean and altogether superb.”
James, Source Energy Scotland manager Andy Smith, and Stuart worked closely with our partners, Mitsubishi Electric, to ensure that the bespoke heat pump would meet all of Tom’s heating requirements. Factors such as Scotland’s often extreme weather conditions and Tom’s request for a backup system were considered by James throughout the detailed research and design process.
Tom described Dylan, Source Energy’s Design & Specification engineer, as “vital to the success of the project”.
“Dylan helped me immensely with crucial commercial applications, I’m a mechanical engineer and I couldn’t even understand some of the requirements. His knowledge is extensive and proved essential. I highly doubt that I would have received such levels of assistance and dedication from lesser companies. If Source Energy hadn’t helped me, my project could have been an absolute disaster!”
Required to meet regulations for dog and cat kennels, Tom’s project was complex, and he was obliged to ensure that a minimum of 40% of the kennels remained unheated. Source Energy were able to work with Tom in designing a sophisticated solution, facilitating accordance with important laws.
We met Tom’s daughter Samantha at the SECC in Glasgow for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show. Tom was “pleasantly surprised that Source Energy got in touch so soon after meeting Samantha”, and was “impressed from the offset” with our award winning credentials.
